My name is Viv Dawes and I have been taking photographs since 1985 when I studied Fine Art Painting at Croydon College and then a BA (Hons) Degree at Farnham Art College (now UCAS). I love to capture drama and textures in my landscapes and the tension between dark and light. This is known as 'Chiaroscuro' in Italian and a technique famously used by the great Italian artist Caravaggio.
I have recently developed a particular passion for mountains and have started regularly travelling to Snowdonia to take photos there. The photos featured on this website have been taken in numerous locations: Snowdonia, The Lake District, Surrey, London, The Isle of Skye, Switzerland and Greece to name a few.
